Emma Chapman - Executive Director
Emma Chapman is a UofA Global Studies student, majoring in Global Politics and Human Rights, and has been critical to the expansion and success of Global Citizenship NZ since 2017.
Coming from a strong background of trade justice and international human rights, Emma has years of experience working for Fairtrade, Oxfam and Trade Aid, as well as the Tanzania Development Trust through UNV. She spent four years as a music teacher, has spoken to over 1,000 people on global issues, and has a Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2018 she also began working on the Civics Education Working Group for UN Youth.
Tegan Ranstead - Event and communications director
Tegan Ranstead is a second year Bachelor of Business student majoring in Entrepreneurship and Event Management, who helped bring greater success and organisation to Global Citizenship NZ when she joined in 2017.
From her study in sustainable business, working with various companies in event management/hospitality, and studying overseas in Italy, she brings a wealth of skills and passion to Global Citizenship NZ. She has a Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a strong background in Drama and Hospitality, making her a very dynamic presenter and great communicator. She is also a member of Ngati Maniapoto and committed to standing up for Maori rights.
Favor Nweke - course content advisor
Favor Nweke is a third year University of Auckland Law student who co-founded the organisation in 2016, along with Ery Zhu and Ariana Brunet, in order to help empower youth, especially politically.
Key member of the Whau Youth Board, Amnesty International groups, Model United Nations and former New Zealand Youth MP, Favor has impressive experience in law, politics, government and human rights. A specialist in youth political engagement and how New Zealand Government and law works, Favor is a key advisor on these topics to make our workshops informative and empowering.
Ariana Brunet - CREATIVE Director
Ariana Brunet is a youth activist in grassroots and creative projects. In 2016 she co-founded the organisation with Favor Nweke and Ery Zhu, in order to help empower more youth to make a difference.
Her experience includes volunteering with charities, starting community gardens and campaigns, being an ambassador for Sustainable Coastlines, and working for Greenpeace and Trade Aid. In 2016 she did a plastic free, fair trade year, and in total she has spoken to over 4,000 people about conscious consumerism and environmental sustainability.
Francis Flores - Financial Advisor
Francis Flores is in his third year of an Accounting, Economics and Taxation degree at the University of Auckland.
Francis has a passion for anything Accounting and Finance and currently works as a representative for Chartered Accountants ANZ, and is also a consultant for the Auckland Microfinance Initiative.
He loves experiencing and immersing himself in new cultures and has just come back from an exchange in South Korea. A global citizen and committed to using his financial and cultural knowledge to make the world a better place, he advises our start-up on our financial decisions and loves to help out behind the scenes.
Ery Zhu - founding member and shareholder
Ery Zhu founded the Global Citizenship Course in 2016 alongside Ariana Brunet and Favor Nweke, and is now a consulting member and shareholder of the organisation. Ery is currently studying Biomedical Engineering and Economics at Harvard University.
A former Youth MP, Ery also competed in the Biology Olympics, was part of Make A Difference, and has extensive public speaking experience. Ery is committed to sustainability and taking action to help improve our world, and remains an invaluable team member for Global Citizenship NZ.
