COURSE - MULTIPLE WORKSHOPS

A course consists of multiple workshops over time as per your choice. In the past we have run four and five-week series, but we can accomodate to whatever options are best for your school or community group. These can be run on a diverse range of topics tailored to your needs, including to fulfil curriculum standards and assessments.

Here is an excerpt from possible discussion topics in a climate change course:

  • How the greenhouse effect works, with some basic yet crucial earth science (e.g. understanding the atmosphere, relationship between greenhouse gases, global warming, warmer oceans/rising sea levels and intensified, irregular weather patterns like El Nino)

  • The leading causes of climate change globally, including: agriculture, transport (including air travel), other industries and waste

  • New Zealand’s contribution to climate change, and the percentage of emissions each industry contributes

  • How climate change is disproportionally caused by the powerful and rich, yet affects the poorer and geographically disadvantaged more

  • Climate refugees currently and in future

  • What is being done globally to make a difference, by governments, international authorities, businesses, nonprofits, and the public

  • Various examples of what young people can do, and are doing in New Zealand
